Mid-Norfolk Railway - 25 Years Anniversary LogoWelcome to the Mid-Norfolk Railway - the Heart of Norfolk heritage railway running between Dereham and Wymondham Abbey, also restoring the line northwards to North Elmham and County School. Please feel free to look around and do not hesitate to contact us with any queries. The Mid-Norfolk Railway, like other organisations and businesses, are monitoring the evolving situation and following the Government's guidelines on the Coronavirus. In light of the updated information available to us, we have taken the decision to close the railway to the public until the end of JULY, we are still running for commercial freight, stock movements, essential repairs and engineering works.

A message from our working-at-home Office Manager, anyone who has bookings with us in June or July will be contacted in the near future if they haven't already. There may be a delayed response to your queries due to the limited resources we have at this time.

The MNR 25th Anniversary Weekend is now taking place over the August Bank Holiday weekend, which will be an almagamation of the Beer Weekend, the postponed mixed traffic celebrations and the postponed Diesel Gala. Our War Weekend has been cancelled for 2020 and will take place in 2021 on 7th and 8th August.

The railway will continue to monitor the situation based on current advice from health authorities - and we will issue an update if the current situation changes. Covid-19 / Coronavirus Bulletin - 10th May 2020

EMERGENCY APPEAL

Our last running day was Sunday 15th March, our excellent Wedding Fair. Since then, due to COVID-19, we've not been able to run a single passenger-carrying train. Unfortunately, its a very long tunnel we're currently in and what light there is at the end is a long way away with no clue as to when we're going to get there and resume our operations.

In the meantime, we still are having to pay all our fixed costs, wages (though most staff have been furloughed), insurance, amenities, etc, and, while we still have an income from our work with Greater Anglia, with what should be the busy summer months fast approaching and no running day revenue, any help with covering these costs would be very much appreciated.

We have a target of £75,000 for this appeal.

If you, or anyone you know would be prepared to donate an amount, large or small, towards covering these costs, we would be delighted to hear from you.

To donate:

Thank you, we look forward to seeing you again soon!
