Leave the A11 at the B1135 junction signed towards Wymondham, and head towards the town centre on the B1172. After about a mile, you arrive at the traffic lights: turn right and then immediately left. Go through the marketplace and then look for the war memorial on your left, after which you turn left into Vicar Street. Wymondham Abbey Station is on the right after about a quarter of a mile, shortly after you cross the river.
When you arrive at the B1172 junction, signed towards Wymondham and Dereham, leave the A11 and head towards the town centre. Carry on until you arrive at some traffic lights after three miles. Turn left at the lights and then immediately left again, following the signs for the town centre. Go through the Market Place and then look for the war memorial on your left, after which you turn left into Vicar Street. Wymondham Abbey Station is on the right after about a quarter of a mile, shortly after you cross the river.
As you leave the town centre, there is a small car park on your right after crossing the river. However, parking at Wymondham Abbey is severely restricted. We recommend that you park in the town and walk to the station.
Wymondham is well-served by an hourly service between Norwich and Cambridge operated by National Express, as well as East Midlands Trains services to Ely, Peterborough and beyond.
We do not yet have a station in the immediate neighbourhood of Wymondham Station, so the best option is a pleasant twenty-minute walk to Wymondham Abbey Station. Leave the Network Rail station and turn left. Carry on past the cemetery until you arrive at the end of the road. Cross the main road, and head right and then immediately left again into a housing estate. Fork right at the mini-roundabout. Just before the river is a footpath. Follow the footpath towards the unmistakable towers of the abbey. Turn left at the end of the path, and the station is on your right.
Buses from Norwich are mostly operated by First Group. There are three buses per hour Monday - Saturday, numbered 14 or 15. In the evenings and on Sundays, service 14B runs to Wymondham hourly. These buses set down and pick up in the Market Place, outside Woolworths.
In addition, service 13 operates hourly Norwich - Attleborough, Monday - Saturday, calling at Wymondham. Coming from Norwich this bus stops near the traffic lights on the B1172, but on the return to Norwich it picks up in the Market Place.
From the Market Place, there are plenty of signs pointing you towards the abbey and the station.
