Saturday 4th December: Lifting Dipped Joints and Changing Sleepers

The works train was dispatched (the last chance this year due to Santa Specials) to attend to various dipped joints and change 8 sleepers between Garvestone and Dereham.

Sunday 5th December: Vegetation Clearance

We try not to stop the Santa specials mid section so the p-way crew looked for a spot near an access point to work today. Since we had a big clearance of Toftwood cutting last year, we have now begun the south side of Westfield Lane. We had an excellent day with a roaring fire to lift spirits.

Saturday 18th December: Preparations for Wymondham run-round

We spent Saturday in Dereham, identifying and labelling materials for the Wymondham run-round in preparation for loading onto trains. Other Permanent Way components were sorted for repositioning away from the site where we will be installing the maintenance pit. Elsewhere, strimming was taking place in Toftwood Cutting.

Sunday 19th December: Vegetation Clearance

We returned to Toftwood Cutting to carry out further tree cutting and burning south from Westfield Lane bridge. A good bonfire saw all of the material burnt up on site. Further strimming completed the trimming of the down cutting site.

Tuesday 28th December: Vegetation Clearance

With an excellent turnout of 14 volunteers, a great day's work was achieved at the work site just south of Westfield Lane Bridge. We had 3 fires burning and 2 chainsaws running to keep us all busy. This has tided up the lineside and improved the view for our passengers so a big thankyou to all involved. With the success of today and the previous post-Christmas events, plans are already afoot for next year. Watch this space!
