Wendling station around the time of closure. |
This weekend marks the 40th anniversary of the closure of the railway that connected King's Lynn directly with the county town of Norwich.
To commemorate this event the MNR is arranging for coaches to depart from both ends of this line on each of the days. The owners and operators of the stations along the route have kindly given permission for passengers to photograph the buildings.
The railway will be operating an intensive timetable, based as closely as possible on the 1960s between Dereham and Wymondham. There will also be demonstration freight trains.
To help refresh people's memories, or to show those who are too young to have seen the line in operation, there will be a Photo Display at Dereham Station from August 23rd to September 7th showing some pictures taken from personal collections.
If you would like to book a seat on one of the coaches please telephone (01362) 851723 or email sales@mnr.org.uk for a booking form. The tour costs £20 per person and includes a return coach and rail journey with a souvenir guide. Numbers are limited as only one coach will operate from each end on both days.
