The Mid-Norfolk Railway welcomes Wheelchair Bound and Disabled customers on board all of our services. This page is provided to you with information to enable you to make an informed decision about your visit to us.
Dereham and Wymondham Abbey Stations are Wheelchair accessible and a large Wheelchair friendly toilet is provided at Dereham station. The Station buffet, shop and museum are all accessible in a wheelchair..
Our smaller stations, Kimberley Park, Thuxton and Yaxham have narrow platforms and a small gated entrance. Smaller Wheelchairs should be able to access the platforms ok, but larger wheelchairs and/or mobility scooters would struggle.
All of our trains carry wheelchair ramps to enable passengers to board or alight at any of our stations. Please be aware none of our trains have Wheelchair accessible toilets.
All of our Heritage Railcar trains can accommodate Wheelchairs on the services. On our Diesel Hauled services, the Blue/Grey Intercity train has a dedicated wheelchair space provided in the Buffet Car.
NEW for 2016 – We are expecting a new coach to enter service on board our Steam services which has a dedicated disabled area, for Wheelchair bound customers. This spacious area has small bench seats provided on board and gives a much better experience than in previous years. The coach was purchased in November 2015, and requires some work to bring it back into passenger traffic.
We welcome Guide Dogs free of charge on all our services. Hearing loops are installed at our Dereham Station.
We are happy for you to contact us in advance if you wish to arrange assistance or discuss your particular requirements. Call Dereham station on 01362 851723
