Dereham Station serves as the headquarters of the Mid-Norfolk Railway. It is situated close to the centre of town, and boasts a shop, tea room and museum. The station originally had ninety staff, with trains leaving for King's Lynn, Wells, Wroxham and Norwich. Today, all the railway's train servicing facilities are based at Dereham, and it is not uncommon to find 20 volunteers on site, working to keep the railway running.
Dereham Station can be found in Station Road. There is a large free car park for our customers, and toilets are provided.

County School Station was built in 1886 at the junction of the lines to Wells and Wroxham, and also to serve the now-demolished Norfolk County School. The station is set in the beautiful surroundings of the Wensum Valley, and has a wildlife garden, picnic area, tea room and museum: a perfect place to relax for an hour or two before continuing on your way.
Although the station is not yet connected to the rest of the Mid-Norfolk Railway, exciting plans to restore the line northwards from Dereham are well under way, with County School eventually becoming the northern terminus of the line.
County School Station is situated about 2km to the north of North Elmham on the road towards Guist and Holt, and is clearly signed along a pleasant leafy lane. Ample free parking and toilets are provided at the station.
Situated near the mid-point of the railway between Dereham and Wymondham, Thuxton is where trains pass each other. Work is ongoing to extend the up platform and build the signal box. The signals are currently controlled from a temporary ground frame.
Wymondham Abbey Station is about a mile from our junction with the main line, and most of our trains end their journeys here. The station is half a mile from the town centre, and there are many pleasant walks in the watermeadows nearby.
Yaxham and Kimberley Park Stations are unstaffed halts between Dereham and Wymondham, with severely limited parking nearby. We have yet to restore train services to North Elmham Station.

County School Station has been beautifully restored to capture the atmosphere of a bygone age. The station evokes memories of a quiet rural junction in the days of the LNER. 22nd August 2001. Photo: Barney Stratford |
